'It Was Unbelievable:' Drill Bit Makers Return From Chile Rescue
Somerset County's Center Rock Also Helped Save Quecreek Miners
PITTSBURGH -- A Somerset County company that helped rescue nine trapped Quecreek miners in 2002 came to the aid of 33 Chilean miners that have been trapped for underground for more than two months. "There were times when we didn't know if we were following that 5-inch hole. We were hoping and praying to God that we did," Soppe said. "When we broke through and the miners hollered up so we could see the bit, that was like the greatest moment ever."
